Mangaluru: The Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, was abuzz with inspiration and creativity on 23 Sep 2023, as the student council proudly presented ‘Equinox Avant 2023.’ This extraordinary event was a celebration of leadership, design, and innovation that left a lasting impact.
Chief Guest Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Technology and Science, MAHE, a respected academic figure, delivered an inspiring speech on the virtue of patience in leadership. He emphasized that exceptional leaders are forged through experiences and resilience. Guest of Honour, Shilpa Hegde, a fashion icon, shared valuable insights into the world of design. She highlighted the significance of keeping an open mind when pursuing design courses, stressing that creativity flourishes when minds are receptive to new ideas and perspectives.
A pivotal moment of the evening was the investiture ceremony of the new student council. After a rigorous selection process, the new council president was announced, along with the core team members who are ready to guide and represent their fellow students.
The highlight of the event was a captivating fashion show, showcasing the outstanding creations of fashion design students from the Department of Design. Under various themes, including Avant Garde, Sustainable garments, Ready-to-wear, and couture garments, the runway transformed into a canvas for their creativity, leaving the audience in awe.
The event was marked by the graceful recognition of the outgoing student council by the esteemed Dr Nandineni Rama Devi, Director of MSAP, Dr Pradeep G Kini, Joint Director of MSAP, and Dr Veena Rao, Head of the Department of Design at MSAP. Certificates were awarded to honour their dedication and contributions to the institution.
