Mangaluru: The Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers’ Student’s Forum (ISF) and Professional Activities Centre (PAC) was inaugurated by Dr K T V Reddy, IETE President, New Delhi, in the presence of Dr M H Kori, IETE Distinguished Fellow and Former Technical Director Alcatel Lucent Technologies and Dr R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management on November 10.
All the faculty members of Department of Electronics and Communication have enrolled themselves as corporate members of IETE and around 123 students have enrolled as student members. Nishal Nivya Rodrigues, the MC for the inauguration, welcomed the gathering followed by an invocation of God’s blessings by Madhura. Dr Ashwath Rao, HoD – E&C department also welcomed the gathering and briefed about the IETE benefits that could be availed by the staff, students and the institute. He also deliberated about the IETE financial assistance to organize various technical events like seminars, symposiums, expert guest lectures which in turn help the faculty and student’s to get exposed to advanced technology. The chief guest inaugurated the programme by unveiling with the press of a button which activated the DC motor drive and one more switch activated the servo motor and microcontroller for the showering of flower petals that were stored. The mechanism was designed by one of the students, Shamanth Gowda.
During his inaugural address, Dr K T V Reddy mentioned various schemes for students and staff and informed that one could get a masters degree from IETE while still working. He expressed his sincere thanks to Sahyadri College and the management for inviting and starting ISF and PAC at the college. The guest of honour Dr M H Kori briefed the audience about how IETE facilitates in arranging invited talks by experts working in various domains for the benefit of the students and faculty members. He also emphasized in what way IETE forum can help other branch students and faculty members if they are fascinated about learning and getting a degree in electronics and computer science. Dr R Srinivasa Rao Kunte gave the presidential remarks and shared experience about his IETE journey at his previous institute and how we can take it forward at Sahyadri to make one of the best south zone centres of IETE with collective support from all staff, students and management by engaging in regular activities of IETE. Gurusiddayya Hiremath, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks.
