Mangaluru: Cancer prevention day was observed on Feb 4 at Pilikur Anganwadi.
The programme was organized by the Community Health Nursing department of Kanachur College of Nursing Sciences. The cancer awareness and screening programme began at 10 am with an introduction to cancer and importance of observing cancer prevention day.
A role play was performed by the B.Sc. Nursing students followed by the health talk on seven warning signals of cancer. The mothers of Anganwadi children were detailed on breast self-examination and prevention of breast cancer. Later on a screening test was conducted for mothers by the medical officer at Kanachur Rural Health Training Centre, Pilikur in order to detect Breast cancer.
The participants were 40 mothers of Anganwadi children, who showed interest in awareness session and screening programme. The programme ended successfully at 1 pm and met the desired goal.
