Kristu Jayanti College Celebrates Silver Jubilee with a Commitment to 25 Community Welfare Missions

Bangalore: Celebrating a quarter century of academic excellence, Kristu Jayanti announced its Silver Jubilee celebrations on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Shri KJ George, Minister for Energy, Government of Karnataka, was the chief guest, Prof Niranjana Vanalli, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore North University was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Delivering the Silver Jubilee inaugural address, Shri KJ George, Minister for Energy, Government of Karnataka, stressed on the importance of youth population of the country. “Youth are the bright future of this country. The country’s responsibility lies on the shoulders of youth and the next generation is the only hope for the nation”, pointed out Shri KJ George.

The Minister for Energy urged the students to start a movement that would stop corrupt practices. “Dignity of labour and respecting every job is the need of the hour. Giving respect to all section of workers like pourakarmikas, daily wages workers, farmers must be priortised. Teachers are doing a selfless job by imparting education to youngsters”, added Shri KJ George.

Shri KJ George also stressed on the importance of women empowerment and said, “Nearly 50 percent of population are women and providing them with free transport through free bus pass would empower them in their duties”.

Talking about the Institution, Prof Niranjan Vanalli, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore North University, pointed out, Kristu Jayanti college is doing very good job in providing the quality education for young generation. “The college is an example of excellence in academic activity and is the main reason for accomplishing 25 years. CMI fathers planted a very good plant in the form of Kristu Jayanti College which has yielded fruitful results in the form education. This shows the commitment of CMI fathers towards the society”.

Delivering the presidential address, Fr. Dr Abraham Vettiyankal, Provincial, CMI Congregation, St Joseph Province Kottayam, recollected the humble beginnings of Kristu Jayanti College and the vision of CMI St Joseph Province Kottayam. Appreciating the research contributions of KJC, Fr. Dr Abraham Vettiyankal, Provincial, CMI Congregation, added that he wished that as part of the culmination of silver jubilee celebrations that KJC would become a deemed to be university in a year’s time.

The pioneers of the Kristu Jayanti College, Fr. Josekutty Padinjarepeedika, Fr. Jose Parekkattil, Fr. Issac Poochamkulam, Fr. Sebastian Elanjickal, Fr. James Narithookil, Fr. Thomas Aykkara and Fr. Thomas Kadankavil were felicitated on the occasion.

On the occasion of Silver Jubilee, a logo was unveiled with the theme ‘Empowering visions, Enriching lives’.

Embarking on this remarkable journey of knowledge, growth, and achievement KJC Silver Jubilee initiatives were also announced on Thursday. They are as follows.

KJC Silver Jubilee Inititatives 2023-24:

  • KJ Skills Studio,
  • KJ Centre for Sanskrit Studies and Research,
  • KJ Center for Material Science Research,
  • KJ Center for Indian Knowledge System,
  • KJ Jnana Sethu (adoption of two rural government schools for imparting skill education in Karnataka),
  • KJ Vidya Nidhi Yojana which offers free education for underprivileged children,
  • KJCommunity School for empowering children of migrant labourer,
  • KJ Kuteeram Yojana which offers affordable and safe housing for socially and economically disadvantaged,
  • KJ Udyana Sanrakshan Yojana emphasizing on environmental protection by planting 300 trees near Nagenahalli Lake are the major initiatives that will be rolled out from the present academic year.
