Mangaluru: The lamp lighting ceremony for the 17th Batch of B.Sc (N) students of Yenepoya Nursing College was held on December 20 at Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya (deemed to be University).
The formal program began at 11 AM with the invocation. .
The chief guest of the occasion was Colonel Cecily PJ, Nursing Superintendent of Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, Mangaluru. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. M Vijay Kumar presided over the function.
The other dignitaries on the dais were Dr. Gangadhara Somayaji, Registrar, Yenepoya (deemed to be university), Sr. Aileen Mathias, Chief Nursing Officer, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Dr. Leena KC, Principal, Yenepoya Nursing College, Mr. Gireesh GR, Associate Professor, Yenepoya Nursing College, Mrs. Reema, Lecturer, Yenepoya Nursing College and Jyothi, Lecturer, Yenepoya Nursing College.
The ceremony commenced at 11.30 AM with the procession of the I year B.Sc (N) students.

Gireesh GR enlightened the audience on the significance of lamp lighting and oath taking in Nursing Profession.
Colonel Cecily PJ highlighted the importance of nursing & dedication needed towards nursing profession. She emphasised on the need to develop knowledge and skills with right attitude of caring among nurses. Dr. Leena KC delivered the oath of nursing profession to the budding nurses.
Jyothi proposed the vote of thanks.
The lamp lighting ceremony ended at 12.15 PM followed by national anthem.
