MAHE To Host Manipal Global Health Summit

Mangaluru: The Manipal Global Health Summit announced the commencement of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) – Manipal Global Health Summit. This summit is scheduled for 4 to 6 January  2024, at the Fortune Inn Valley View, Manipal, in collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Over 100 AAPI USA physicians, predominantly alumni of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal/Mangalore, will convene to discuss the ‘Future of Healthcare and Artificial Intelligence.’ The summit will feature CME lectures, a CEO forum, and a Women’s Forum, highlighting India’s dedication to healthcare progress and innovation.

Dr H.S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor – MAHE Manipal, and Dr Sampat Shivangi, President of the Indian American Forum for Political Education, Lt. Gen. (Dr) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, Manipal, Dr Sharath Rao Pro Vice Chancellor Health Sciences MAHE, Manipal and Dr Rohit Singh Director of Alumni Relations, MAHE, Manipal have addressed the pre-event press meet, expressing their enthusiasm for the new horizons in global healthcare that the summit aims to explore.

Dr H.S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor – MAHE Manipal said “It’s a profound honour to welcome the esteemed members of AAPI to our campus. Today marks not just a confluence of minds but also the shared visions of our institutions. Our joint endeavour with AAPI steers the course for pioneering efforts in healthcare, empowered by artificial intelligence. The deliberations and outcomes of this summit will resonate with the ethos of MAHE, which continually strives for innovation in education and healthcare. We stand at the cusp of a new era where technology enhances our capacity to heal, teach, and discover.”

During the pre-event press meet, Dr Sampat Shivangi, President of the Indian American Forum for Political Education, Chairman of the Mississippi State Department of Mental Health highlighted the crucial role of Indo-American collaboration in the medical field. “In the dynamic landscape of healthcare, the partnership between Indian and American physicians is not just beneficial but essential. Together, we can lead the charge towards groundbreaking advancements in medicine, leveraging the combined expertise of our nations’ professionals,” said Dr Shivangi.

He further emphasized the potential impact of such collaboration: “By working hand in hand, sharing knowledge, and driving innovation, we aim to enhance patient care, medical education, and research across borders. This summit is a beacon for that collaborative spirit and a step towards a future where health care knows no boundaries.”
