MAHE Manipal Hosts Int’l Symposium on Neuroscience & Imaging (ISNI)

Mangaluru:  The International Symposium on Neuroscience and Imaging (ISNI 2024) organized by the Manipal OPTICA Student Chapter in collaboration with the Manipal SPIE Student Chapter at the Manipal School of Life Sciences (MSLS), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, was inaugurated at MSLS on Jan 3 by Lt. Gen. (Dr ) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, and Dr Ammasi Periasamy, Director of W.M. Keck Center for Cellular Imaging, University of Virginia, USA, in the presence of Dr B. S. Satish Rao, Director, MSLS and Director of Research, MAHE, alongside the conveners of the symposium.

The ISNI 2024 symposium, which encompasses diverse perspectives in exploring and promoting solutions to the existing and new problems in the fields of neuroscience and imaging, was declared open by a symbolic lighting of a lamp by Lt. Gen. (Dr) M.D. Venkatesh.

In his inaugural address, Lt. Gen. (Dr) M.D. Venkatesh emphasized the significance of the convergence of neuroscience and imaging, bringing together the synergy of these major fields. He encouraged the attendees to capitalize on this unique opportunity to establish collaborations that aim to find innovative and cost-effective solutions to research problems that currently exist. He highlighted the presence of esteemed speakers contributing their insights to the audience.

Dr Ammasi Periasamy delivered an enlightening address emphasizing the pivotal role of international collaboration and workshops in advancing neuroscience research and imaging.

Earlier, Dr Gireesh Gangadharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Ageing Research, MSLS welcomed the delegates.

The one-day symposium brought together around 100 delegates including leading researchers, scholars, and experts around the globe in a platform engaging in the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences, fostering collaborations and scientific innovation under the broad umbrella of these fields. It also included a poster session by young researchers and students working in these fields.

Dr Nirmal Mazumder, Associate Professor, Department of Biophysics, MSLS proposed the vote of the thanks.
