Mangaluru: Mangaluru University College celebrated its 151st Founder’s Day with a programme organised at the college on Saturday, September 21.
Entrepreneur and Chartered Accountant (CA) Nandagopala Shenoy was the chief guest of the event and Mangaluru University Vice-Chancellor Professor P Subrahmanya Yedapadithaya presided over the programme.
In his presidential address, Yedapadithaya stressed that unity was the strength for the overall growth of any institutions. He said, “Along with law, there should be humanity within the administration.”
Addressing the gathering, Shenoy said, ” The bird which sits on a string is unaware whether it is strong enough to sit, but it is confident about the capacity of its wings. Students should develop self-confidence to face the competitive world.”
He further suggested that the college should conduct skill development programmes in order to help the students cultivate values.
Afterwards, scholarships provided by university alumni Govardhan and Jayaraj were distributed to top-scoring students.
Earlier, College Principal Dr Uday Kumar welcomed the gathering. Political Science Department head Dr Latha A Pandit and Sanskrit Department head Dr Kumara Subrahmanya Bhat compered the programme.
Old Students’ Association President Colonel Nitteguttu Sharath Bhandary, Former Employee’s Association President B Govinda Nayak, Evening College Principal Ramakrishna BM, Economics PG Coordinator Dr Jayavanta Nayak, Physics Department Assistant Professor Aruna Kumari, and others were present at the programme.
