MCHP Manipal celebrates 24th Annual Awards Day

Mangaluru: Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP) a pioneering institution in India dedicated to allied health sciences, proudly celebrated its 24th Annual Awards Day on 21 Nov 2023. Renowned for training exceptional allied health professionals, MCHP stands as the first and largest institution of its kind in India. These professionals play a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing a variety of conditions and illnesses, contributing significantly to multidisciplinary health teams and enhancing patient outcomes.

The prestigious event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh. In his address, Dr Venkatesh emphasized the institution’s commitment to nurturing graduates equipped for rewarding careers in the rapidly evolving global healthcare sector.

Underlining the college’s remarkable growth since its inception, Dr Venkatesh noted its recognition as a centre of excellence in allied health sciences in India. This acclaim is attributed to the institution’s demand-driven health programmes, state-of-the-art infrastructure, clinical facilities, and a team of dedicated, qualified faculty members.

Dr Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Health Sciences, MAHE, highlighted the college’s expansive educational offerings, which include over 70 diverse programmes. He proudly acknowledged the global placement of the college’s alumni in various esteemed universities, hospitals, healthcare teams, and private practices.

The event was graced by Dr G Arun Maiya, Dean of Manipal College of Health Professions. Dr Maiya welcomed the attendees and presented an overview of the faculty’s and students’ achievements in 2023.

A special moment was the felicitation of Dr Priyanka Gupta, currently serving at AIMS, Delhi, who was honoured with the Best Alumni Award 2023.

Associate Deans Dr Reshmi B and Dr Venkataraja Aithal, along with Dr Shovan Saha, Chair of Alumni Relations, were present, celebrating the college’s ongoing commitment to excellence in health professions education and its significant contributions to the healthcare industry.
