12 teams comprising MBBS students from Melaka Manipal Medical College (Manipal campus) and other Health Sciences institutions of MAHE from both the Manipal and Mangalore campuses participated in this contest. They were instructed to design a model of an existing or non-existing microbe of their choice. A team consisting of 4-5 students were allowed to design 3D structures of microorganisms with creativity and innovation.
The Chief Guest, Dr K Ramnarayan, Pro-Chancellor – Sikkim Manipal University inaugurated the event and Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, MAHE, Manipal was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. Dr Ullas Kamath, Dean, MMMC graced the occasion. Dr Shobha K L, Associate Dean, Professor & Head Department of Microbiology, MMMC rendered the welcome address.
The designed models were assessed by three eminent judges from various institutions of MAHE, Manipal. The prize distribution was held after judging the models. The first prize was won by MMMC students, the second prize by Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore and the third prize by Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal.
