Mangaluru: Deepavali in Sanskrit means row of lights which symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, worthy over wicked, and wisdom over ignorance.
Deepavali was celebrated by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), on Oct. 29, 2022 with Diwali lanterns, Diyas and Rangoli designs. The First year M.Com. students hosted the program with sweets and entertaining and exciting games.
The program started by invoking God’s blessing by Fredvin and group. Samriddhi elaborated on the importance of Deepavali to the gathering. Summiyya escorted the Faculty, Vice President and Secretary to light the lamps. fun-filled games and quiz conducted by Merin and the group made the programme more engaging and interesting. A fantastic dance was performed by Niriksha and team. Shreya M.Com., a First-year student, compered the whole programme and Fathima Nashifa proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr Dolan Champa Banerjee, HOD P.G. Commerce while delivering her speech highlighted that Deepavali signifies gathering with family and close friends, sumptuous food, fun and frolic, lighting firecrackers and exchanging gifts. She also thanked the students for decorating the class beautifully with Diyas, Diwali lanterns and Rangolis and appreciated their creating a festive exuberance among the faculty and students.
