Mangaluru: Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mangaluru organized a Continuing Medical Education Programme on Clinical Toxicology on December 8, at the Auditorium – II of A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mangaluru. The event was presided by Professor (Dr.) Ashok Hegde, Dean, A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre.Professor (Dr.) Jayaprakasha K., Professor & HOD, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology welcomed the gathering. Professor (Dr.) Ashok Hegde, congratulated the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in organizing this CME and commended the contribution of all the faculty in propagating ethical and legal practice in Medical profession. The dean elaborated the vision and mission of the President of A.J. Group of Institutions Dr. A.J. Shetty and Vice President Prashanth Shetty in the direction of serving needy section of the society ultimately benefiting the humanity.

Various resource persons enlightened the gathering on various aspects of clinical toxicology, which included Morphology of Snakes & its identification by Dr. Ravindranatha Aithal; Clinical Aspect & Management of Snakebites by Professor (Dr.) E.V.S. Maben; Collection & Preservation of Evidentiary Material in Medico-Legal cases by Dr. M.D. Gowtham & Dr. Geethalaxmi; and Forensic Aspects of Snakebites by Professor (Dr.) Francis N.P. Monteiro. Dr. Ullasa Shetty introduced the resource persons to the august gathering. Around 200 delegates from various institutes participated in the event. Heads of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from all the neighboring colleges of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district graced the occasion.
