Research needed on Indian history, culture: Prof M B Puranik

Mangalore: If the history of a country can’t be understood, it just means it is not been documented sincerely. Even the history of India needs more research into the truth, opined Sharada Education Institution Chairman Prof. M B Puranik. 

Delivering the keynote address at the valedictory of the two-day National seminar on  “Freedom Fight in Coastal Karnataka” organised by University Evening College, in association with Kannada Development Authority recently at Ravindra Kalabhavana College, he stressed introspecting about our contribution to the society. 

Chief Guest, Bank of Baroda Regional Office Deputy General Manager Vinay Gupta said that Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav is being celebrated not only in the educational institutions but also in banks and other organisations as it is everyone’s duty to learn about freedom heroes.

Convenor, Principal Dr Subhashini Srivatsa welcomed the guests. Commerce Lecturer Raghavendra mastered the ceremony. Organizing Committee Secretary Venkatesh Nayak presented a vote of thanks. Coordinators and members of the advisory committee, and organizing committee were present. 

*Group discussion*

Researchers presented their research papers on the second day of the seminar. A group discussion was held on ‘Reflection of Freedom Movement in the curriculum’. Retired Kannada Professor from Besant Women’s College Dr Meenakshi Ramachandra and Moodabidri Jain Pre-University College History Lecturer Dr Prabhat Balnad led the interaction.  Mangalore Lit Fest Coordinator Sunil Kulkarni moderated the session.
