Speaking as a resource person in a webinar on ‘Research in Social Science: Issues and Concerns’, hosted by the Journalism, Political Science, and Sociology departments of the University College Mangaluru, in association with the NSS on Tuesday, he said it is the search for truth in the right direction, according to the scientific parameters.
“Implementation of a four-year degree under the National Education Policy will increase the importance of the research. There are rumours regarding the ‘paid PhDs’ by various universities. Students need to engage in research for their knowledge, without paying attention towards this negativity,” he added.
Principal Dr Anasuya Rai gave her Presidential address. She felt the program will make students learn about it at the degree level itself. Journalism Department Head Dr Shani KR welcomed the guests. Lecturer Guruprasad TN mastered the event and Dr Sowmya K B extended the vote of thanks. Dept Heads from Political Science Dr Latha Pandith, Sociology Dr Gayathri N, Dr Suresh, and teachers from various departments, students were present.
