Roshni Nilaya holding 2-day Convention on Forensic Criminology

Mangaluru: The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, along with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, is collaborating with Code F Solutions Pvt. Limited, Nagpur, Maharashtra, and the Department of Forensic Science and Criminology at the Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, Mukka, Mangaluru.

Together, they are organizing a Two-day international Convention with the theme “Forensic Criminology: The Confluence of Science and Legal Practices” on March 6 and 7, 2024.

The event will commence with the inaugural at 9:15 am Wednesday 6 March 2024 in the Maria Paiva Hall of our Institution.

Dharmappa N.M., Additional Superintendent of Police in Dakshina Kannada District, will serve as the Chief Guest.

Dr. Vina Vaswani, Director of the Centre for Ethics and Professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at Yenepoya University, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, will be the Guest of Honour.

Shubham Shahu, Director of Code F. Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and Prof. Pavana Krishnamoorthy, Dean of the Institute of Allied Health Sciences (IAHS) at Srinivas University, Mukka, Mangaluru, will be present.

Dr Jenis Mary, Vice-Principal, School of Social Work, Mangaluru will preside.

Dr Saritha D’Souza, Head, Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Program coordinator of CRIFO 2K24, Faculties, Delegates and students from other institutions in and around the states will be present.

Around 200 delegates will be taking part in the convention.

Forensic Criminology represents the seamless integration of Science, Law, and Investigation, constituting a dynamic field essential to modern Criminal Justice System.

By applying scientific methodologies to crime scene analysis and behavioural profiling, Forensic Criminologists contribute vital insights to legal proceedings.

This confluence ensures a comprehensive understanding of criminal activities, aiding law enforcement in solving complex cases.

The convention fosters collaboration among professionals from diverse fields, including forensic scientists, law enforcement officials, and legal experts, promoting a holistic understanding of the challenges and opportunities inherent in the discipline.

The following resource persons will address the two-days international Convention on relevant topics:

-Dr Francis N.P. Monteiro, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine, Manipal University College, Malaysia on ‘Psychopathology and Crime’,

-Shubham Shahu, Director, Code F. Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Nagpur, Maharashtra on the Forensic Revolution in insurance Investigations,

-G. K. Parameshwara Jois, Senior Advocate, Mangaluru District Court, on the Significance of Scientific Evidences in Legal Practices,

-Balajinarayan B. Junior Analyst, Forensic Science Laboratory, Puducherry on Transition in the Landscape of Crime: An Outlook.

Seven Competitions will be conducted for the participants along with the Research Paper Presentations.

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) for Academic Pursuit will be signed between the PG Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya and Code F Solutions Pvt. Limited, Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The Valedictory Ceremony is on 7 March 2024 at 3.45 pm. Dr Mahabalesh Shetty, Crime Science Expert, Head, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, KSHEMA, Mangaluru will be the chief guest.

Guest of Honour Prof. Vineetha K. Associate professor, Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work, Prof. Cecilia F. Goveas, IQAC coordinator and HOD Economics of the college, Dr Swathi D. Course Coordinator, Department of Forensic Science, IAHC, Srinivas University, Mukka, Mangaluru will be present.

Prof. Eveleen Benis, Secretary of Institute of Social Service, Head, Post Graduate Department of Social Work of the college will preside.
