SAC holds Natl Conference on Interdisciplinary Research

Mangaluru: A one-day National Conference on the topic of “Collaborating across Disciplines through Interdisciplinary Research” was held at Eric Mathias Hall, St Aloysius College (Autonomous). The National Conference is organised in association with UGC STRIDE (Scheme for Trans-Disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy)-Component 1. 

Prof. Kesavan Veluthat, former professor of Delhi University and Mangaluru University delivered the keynote address. Prof Rajashekaran Pillai, Professor of Manipal Institute of Management was the guest of honour. 

Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, Principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in his presidential remark, stressed the importance of interdisciplinary research. Prof. Kesavan Veluthat in his keynote address spoke on “Knowledge without Boundaries: Interdisciplinarity in Social Sciences” and narrated examples of the application of interdisciplinary research for the benefit of society. Prof Rajashekaran Pillai spoke on the topic “Crafting a Scholarly Manuscript”.  Dr Prasanna D Belur, Associate Professor, from NITK Surathkal also delivered a lecture on the topic “Applied Research for Solving Societal Problems.  

Dr Suresh Poojary, Convenor of the conference welcomed the gathering while introducing the exigency for research across disciplines. Dr Alwyn DSa, Registrar and Coordinator of UGC STRIDE and Fr Vincent Pinto SJ, Finance Officer graced the inaugural. The vote of thanks was proposed by the organising secretary, Dr Chandrashekara Shetty.
