Mangaluru/Belagavi: Sahyadri won the overall championship in the 20th Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) state-level inter collegiate athletic competition for the sixth time.
The competition was held at VTU, Belagavi from November 3 to 6.
Sahyadri won the overall championship both in Men’s and Women’s section, by securing 35 and 45 points respectively combining a total of 80 points.
Manisha A created a new meet record in 4 x 100 mtrs relay and won the Best Athlete award in women’s section.
Medals won by Sahyadri Athletes:
1. Jomon K Saji-1st place in 100 mtrs & 3rd place in 200 mtrs.
2. Manisha A-1st place in 100 mtrs & 200 mtrs.
3. Sarvesh B Martha-1st place in 400 mtrs & 2nd place in 400 mtrs hurdles.
4. Shashwath M R-2nd place in 5000 mtrs & 2nd place in 10000 mtrs.
5. Sushmitha-1st place in high jump.
6. Anivitha Shetty-3rd place in 100 mtrs & 200 mtrs hurdles.
7. Sushma-3rd place in 5000 mtrs & 10000 mtrs.
8. Shreya N Kottari-2nd place in heptathlon & 3rd place in high jump.
9. Krupa S R-1st place in hammer throw.
10. Satvika J Rai-3rd place in javelin throw.
11. Ranulf J Noronha-3rd place in javelin throw.
12. Mohammed Zaheer-3rd place in long jump.
13. Deekshith D-1st place in pole vault.
14. 4×100 mtrs Relay Girls section 1st place
15. 4×100 mtrs Relay Boys section 2nd place
16. 4×400 mtrs Relay Girls section 2nd place
17. 4×400 mtrs Relay Boys section 3rd place
Prof. Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor, VTU, Belagavi was appreciative of the athletes of Sahyadri College for having won the VTU Championship Trophy for the 6th time. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri College, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Sadanand H S, Director of Sports and Nithisha Rodrigues, Physical Education Director were present at the prize distribution ceremony.
T G Krishna Bhat, IPS, Police Commissioner of Belagavi was also present on the occasion and he wished Manjunath Bhandary for his initiation towards the physical education and students overall development.
