SJEC holds Special Lecture on Building Atmanirbhar Bharat

Mangaluru: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at St Joseph Engineering College,  organized a Special Lecture on “Building Atmanirbhar Bharat” on 10 July 2023 at 10 a.m. in Prerana Hall. This workshop was open to all SJEC students as well as staff members. There were 220 people present for the enlightening session on Atmanirbhar Bharat. The session’s resource person was Dr B.E Rangaswamy, Registrar at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

The event witnessed the gracious presence of Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’souza, Director, SJEC, Dr Rio D’souza, Principal, Rev. Fr Kenneth R Crasta, Assistant Director, Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal, Rakesh Lobo, HR Manager and Dr Dayakshini, HOD, E&C, HOD’s of various department and Deans of SJEC.

Before the lecture session, a meeting with the resource person was organized for all HODs and Deans of SJEC and the SJEC administration. Dr B.E Rangaswamy stressed focusing on research and stated that the responsibility of the teacher is more about mentoring and being a facilitator in helping future generations in innovation-based activities.

SJEC holds Special Lecture on Building Atmanirbhar BharatDr B.E Rangaswamy began the session by outlining the significance of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the value of self-reliance. He spoke about the challenges and opportunities in India for the next generation. He featured success stories from the pharmaceutical and space industries and the automotive and transportation sectors, emphasizing the importance of research and innovation.

Dr B.E Rangaswamy emphasized the need for skill development in constructing a strong nation and the importance of developing intellectuals. He insisted on students participating in research activities and identifying social innovations. The unique lecture was attended by SJEC’s teaching staff and students.

During his visit to the SJEC-AICTE IDEA lab, Dr B.E. Rangaswamy expressed his appreciation for the skill-building activities conducted for SJEC students and students from other institutions in the region who benefit.
