SJECs Team HIVELINK Secures Second Place in Anveshana

Bengaluru: Team HiveLink from St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) clinched the Runner-Up title in the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu edition of Anveshana 2024 and was awarded a cash prize of twenty-five thousand rupees.

The grand finale held at Shikshakara Bhavana, Bengaluru, from February 27-29, was organized by Synopsys and the Agastya International Foundation. The 13th Edition of Anveshana had top 50 student innovations on display.

Anveshana serves as a collaborative platform, bringing together undergraduate engineering students alongside students from government and aided schools, who collaborate under the guidance of engineering colleges to conceive proofs of concept, prototypes, or products that embody engineering and scientific principles. 

SJEC Team HIVELINKThe teams’ ingenious creation HiveLink—an AI-powered device intends to revolutionize beekeeping. Crafted by students at SJEC, the HiveLink device serves as a comprehensive solution for beekeepers, offering real-time hive management capabilities to enhance productivity. “

Cost-effective and seamlessly integrated, the add-on device empowers beekeepers to monitor critical challenges such as swarming, absconding, pest infections, hive fall, and theft through the Hivelink App interface.

Notably, the Aadhar-enabled mobile application aligns with the sweet revolution initiative of the Central Government, providing policymakers with invaluable insights into modern beekeeping practices.

Led by Ajwin DSouza, a final-year electrical engineering student and passionate beekeeper, team HiveLink has Joywin Bennis from Computer Science, Joshua Quinthino Albuquerque from Electronics & Communication, and Deepthi P from the Electrical and Electronics, along with Sinchana B and Anisha from St Raymond’s Aided High School, Vamanjoor.

The team is guided by Glenson Toney, Training Coordinator at the Training and Placement cell and Assistant Professor in the department of Electronics and Communication at SJEC, along with Dr K. T. Vijayakumar, Assistant Professor at the department of Apiculture, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru. 

Team HiveLink was inducted in the prestigious TCS Digital Impact Square Cohort Program 2024 and was also showcased at NASTECH 2023 of NASSCOM as one of the top 3 Student Innovations of the State.

HiveLink was featured at the Bengaluru Tech Summit in December 2023 and was awarded the Best Product at UdyamSaathi 2023 by the Rachana Chamber of Commerce 

HiveLink’s vision of redefining beekeeping is a tangible step towards a future where low-cost technological interventions empower and elevate agriculture.

The HiveLink project not only promises to reshape the landscape of beekeeping but also opens new doors for beekeepers to connect with markets, ensuring a prosperous future for this crucial segment of agriculture.
