SSW Roshni Nilaya Announces Conference “Mindful Minds” on 6 Apr

Mangaluru: The Department of Medical and Psychiatric Social Work at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, is organising a  National Conference on “Mindful Minds: Confronting Mental Health Issues in Digital Age” on 6 April.

This significant event aims to address contemporary issues in mental health and foster dialogue among professionals, academics, and practitioners in the field.

The inaugural program of the conference will commence at 9:30 am, featuring esteemed dignitaries including Dr Devendrappa H Registrar (Evaluation) Mangalore University who will inaugurate the event.

Dr Avinash Kamath, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist – KMC, Mangalore will be the Chief Guest. Dr Jenis Mary, Vice Principal of the college will preside over the programme.

The conference will feature three sessions focusing on diverse topics related to mental health and well-being.

Dr Avinash Kamath will lead a session on “Youth and Adolescent Mental Health in the Digital Age,” exploring the challenges and opportunities presented by digital technologies in addressing mental health concerns among the youth.

Dr Rameela Shekhar, a distinguished Mental Health Specialist, will delve into the topic of “Mindfulness and Connection in a Chaotic Digital Environment,” offering insights into cultivating mindfulness and fostering meaningful connections in today’s fast-paced digital world.

Dr Ammu Lukose from Loyola College Trivandrum will conduct a session titled “Inspire to Rewire: Emotional Intelligence through Storytelling,” highlighting the importance of emotional intelligence in promoting mental wellness and resilience through storytelling techniques.

The conference will provide participants with opportunities to engage in interactive discussions, share best practices, and network with peers and experts in the field. Attendees will gain valuable insights into emerging trends, research findings, and practical strategies to address mental health challenges in diverse contexts.

Few competitions such as Poster making, Quiz and Photography on the theme of the conference will be held during the occasion

The valedictory programme will be held at 4.15 pm. Prof. Vineetha K, Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya will be the Chief Guest, Aiwin Mathew, supervising Social worker, Sunbeam Fostering Agency, United Kingdom will be the guest of honor.  More than 200 participants are expected to participate
