St Aloysius College opens 2 New Courses in B.Voc. Degree

Mangaluru: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangalore with the collaboration of National Panasonic India has introduced two new skill-based courses i.e., Bachelor of Vocational degree programme in  ‘Renewable Energy Management’ and ‘Software Development’ during the academic year 2021-22. The inauguration of the new courses was held on 24th November 2021 in Eric Mathias Hall of Maffei block.

Dr Tom George, Consultant, Isha Sol Energies was the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. Melwin Joseph Pinto S J, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions presided over the programme. The principal of the College, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ and the Director of B.Voc. Courses, Dr Denis Fernandes were on the dais.

Addressing the gathering Dr Tom George briefed about the importance of renewable energy in the world. He said that renewable energy is a critical part of reducing global carbon emissions and the pace of investment has greatly increased as the cost of technologies fall and efficiency continues to rise. He congratulated the College for initiating the Renewable Energy Management and Software Development degree programme in the College.

Rev. Fr. Melwin Joseph Pinto S J, in his presidential address, said that a degree in renewable energy provides the younger generation plenty of job opportunities and it develops specialized skills in the development and sustainability of the world’s renewable energy.  He also said that the program equips learners with the required adequate skills to participate in the world’s current energy production issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis S J, briefed about the importance of vocational courses at the degree level.

Mr Robin, Business Head, Isha Sol Energies, Mr Praveen Pinto, Service Delivery Manager (Automation), Mr Reneesh R, South India Sales Head, Panasonic Solar and Dr Vivek K, Technical Head, Isha Sol & Green Turn present on the occasion and addressed the gathering.

Dr Denis Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Claret DSouza compered the programme. Vinutha Shetty delivered the vote of thanks.
