Mangaluru: The Department of Mathematics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), organized a two-day programme “Math Fiesta 2k22” as part of the 109^th Birth Memorial Celebrations of Prof. K.A. Krishnamurthy on September 5 and 6, 2022 in the College.

Dr Raghavendra A., Associate Professor and Principal of Poornaprajna College, Udupi, and a proud alumnus was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme. $012 Fwd SAC organised Math Fiesta 2k22$ of the College, presided over the programme. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Registrar & Controller of Examination, Rev. Fr Vincent Pinto, Finance Officer, Ms Priya Monteiro, HoD of Mathematics and Staff Coordinator for the programme, Rollin Preetha Vaz, Assistant Staff Coordinator, Raoul Noronha, Student Coordinator were present on the dais.

Dr Raghavendra in his speech reminisced his college days and the professors who taught him at St Aloysius College. While speaking about Dr Krishnamurthy and said that his books are even now referred throughout Karnataka. He also spoke about the importance and need of the New Education Policy. He briefed about the opportunities in Mathematics and suggested the students that they can choose Mathematics as their passion.

$012 Fwd SAC organised Math Fiesta 2k22$ Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, in his presidential remarks, reminisced his college days at Poornaprajna College, Udupi and St Aloysius College, Mangalore. He said that Mathematics is the foundation for all sciences. He wished the participants best of luck and told to take part in the competitions sportively.

During the programme, Dr Raghavendra A delivered a lecture on the topic “Importance of Ramanujan’s Contribution in Modern Science”.

Priya Monteiro welcomed the gathering. Anisha Mathias introduced the guests. Larren Serrao Compered the programme. Raoul Noronha proposed the vote of thanks.
