Mangaluru: With weeks of preparation and excitement embedded in us, 29 pupils of St Theresa’s School set out for Model United Nations held at St Aloysius Pre-University College on the November 1, 2 and 3. There were five committees for high school level namely the General Assembly (GA), the Lok Sabha, United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the International Press. Students from various schools and colleges as delegates had participated.
There were five sessions for each committee filled with mature discussions, heated debates, and expressive opinions and so on. MUN was thrilling and enchanting at the same time for it was a real-world simulation of the greatest peacemaking associations all around the world. The committees felt surreal with the presence of a chairperson and rules of formality of addressing fellow delegates.
An MUN is beneficial to every growing mind in enhancing his/her speaking skills and confidence and a salient feature of the MUN was socializing. This was a platform to make new friends and voice out opinions that won’t go unheard; a world of sheer joy and enjoyment.
Theresians had won the best delegation among all other schools and students had secured three places at the event namely Himanshu Shetty and Matthew Saldhana with High Commendation, Sai Pranav Kishan with Special Mention and Poorvi S with Honourable Mention.
