Mangaluru: The 11th Annual Convocation of the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was held on Saturday, Dec 11, 2021, at 11.00 a.m. in the virtual mode from the portals of the University.

Shri Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive officer of NITI Aayog, was the Guest of Honour for the event. In his address, he congratulated and commended the graduates for their achievements during this challenging time of the Covid pandemic, wherein the status quo has changed and brought about a new normal. He advised the young graduates to view every crisis as an opportunity to bring about transformation instead of getting demoralised.

He highlighted the Tech-driven innovations in healthcare and various other sectors for the benefit of the citizens of India. He also suggested that the young graduates should use Technology and innovation to leapfrog into the new sectors in the future and accelerate the progress of the nation and job creation.

He emphasised the role of the alma mater in shaping the lives, personalities and future of each and every student, who would act as its ambassador of change and driver of the future. He motivated the students to ensure academic excellence and strive to be the best in their chosen field. He finally urged the young graduates to practice compassion and be good human beings, thus making a difference in society.

Dr M.K. Ramesh, Vice-chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore & President – Postgraduate Medical Education Board, National Medical Council, New Delhi was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. In his address, he emphasised the virtues of compassion and the need to have a Humane approach towards the patients, and that, qualities of compassion and ethical principles must override all other considerations.

He highlighted the importance of communication skills in today’s day and age where they can play a very vital role in understanding and delivery of the core concepts in healthcare. He congratulated the graduates on the achievement of their dream, despite the numerous difficulties faced by them due to the ongoing pandemic and the resultant constraints.

A total of 903 PhD, M.Ch/DM, Post Graduate Degree, Post Graduate Diploma and Undergraduates in the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Healthcare & Professions, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Commerce and Management candidates, were conferred the Degrees and Diploma Certificates and seven gold medals were awarded to the toppers.

Shri. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) presided over the function.

Dr M VijayaKumar, Vice-Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) welcomed and Introduced the Dignitaries and presented the annual report of the university.

Dr. Gangadhara Somayaji. K.S., Registrar, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr B.T. Nandish, Controller of Examinations, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) administrated the oath to the graduates.

The programme was compered of Dr Mallika Shetty and Dr Rouchelle Tellis. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
