The World Alzheimers Day observed at Town Hall recently underscored the need for focused care for our Suffering Elders.
” Each One…Reach One” is a program where students reach out to the Elders. Dr Rameela shared her expertise and volunteered to monitor it.
Dr Prabha Adhikari, Head Geriatrics, Yenepoya Medical College elaborated on starting a Daycare centre for Needy Elders.
Prateeksha Prabhu, Dance Director, Team UPASANA volunteered to teach dance to the Elders, which she is already doing at Vatsalya Dhaama.
MASCA Mangalore Senior Citizens Association President Jairaj Rai, Secretary Shashidhar, and other office bearers shared their views and promised to be active partners in the Elders care initiative.
Usha Hebbar, Sudha Shenoy of Spoorthi Trust, Kini of Anantha Soukya, Kavitha, Caregiver, Dr Narayan, Community Medicine, Fr Muller Hospital agreed to play an active role in the care efforts.
Students will meet the selected elders in a time frame and inquire on the Phone. The details and modalities will be worked out.
A great bonding happened between like Minded Service Oriented people. It was heartening to watch each one’s desire to Contribute in some way to our Elders well being.
The District Health Officer DHO Dr Kishore Kumar expressed his Full support for any Initiative to better the conditions of our Elders during the World Alzheimers Day Meet.
With the district Administration assuring its support PAGE has taken the initiative to make a difference in our Elders’ life.
All action plans are time bound and will be implemented by October 20.
It was indeed a very encouraging path to create meetings to support our Senior Citizens.
