Mangaluru: The Golden Jubilee celebration of Infant Mary’s Church, Katipalla was held on December 3. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, at 5 PM.
Two saplings were planted to mark the occasion. It was given the monicker “Jubilee Tree”. Another sapling was planted in memory of the Bishop’s Episcopal ordination called “Laudato si”. During the stage programme, all the parish priests, vice presidents, secretaries and gurkars were honoured.
Mangaluru North MLA Bharath Shetty was the chief guest of the occasion.
Bharath Shetty MLA was honoured on behalf of the Christian Community of Katipalla.
The President, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was honoured by the Parishioners of Katipalla on the occasion of being elected the Bishops of Mangalore. The programme concluded with dinner.
Parish priest, Fr Andrew D’Souza, Vicar Vara of Surathkal Varado, Very Rev Fr Paul Pinto, parish priests who serve at the church, the religious sisters, 3rd Block Corporator Basheer Ahmad, 4th Block Corporator, Thilak Raj, Bala Gram Panchayath president B. Adam and Permude Gram Panchayath president Saroja were also present.
