Mangaluru: “Child marriage is a social evil and everyone should be committed to eradicating it,” said District Legal Services Authority Panel Lawyer Sukesh Kumar Shetty.
He was speaking as a resource person at a workshop on Child Marriage-Free India organised jointly by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration, Legal Services Authority and Women and Child Welfare Department at the Kuttaru Padavu Child Protection Centre in the City. He also gave information about the Child Marriage Act, 2021, which has been introduced in Parliament, and the existing law.
Senior Panel Advocate HarishChandra explained about the legal services available from the Authority.
District Legal Services Authority Officer Rupesh, District Child Protection Unit Protection Officer Kumar Shettigar, Protection Officer Wazir Ahmed, Child Protection Centre Warden Saru and others were present on the occasion.
Student Kaveri welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
