Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA B. Vedavyas Kamath performed the bhoomi puja for the two-laning and development of Hoigebazar Bhagat Singh Road under Mangaluru City Corporation.
Speaking after the event he said that a grant of Rs 1.40 Crore has been released under the Smart City Project for the development of Bhagat Singh Road connecting Hoigebazar Main Road to Dakke. The road will be widened by 9 metres and drains and pedestrian paths will be constructed on both sides of the road to drain out the rainwater, he said.
Vedavyas said that the road will be well-equipped by installing street lights along the road. Since it is a road that connects to Dakke, the development of the road will be of great benefit to the public as well as the commercial establishment. “Since fishing has been suspended for two months now, the road work has been taken up and I have instructed them to complete the work at the earliest,” he said.
Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor Premananda Shetty said that a lot of development works are going on in the City under the Smart City Project. He said that a lot of changes will be achieved in the as far as the development of the City is concerned in the next year.
