Mangaluru: ‘State Government is always ready to build necessary infrastructure’

Mangaluru: “The State Government is always ready to build the necessary infrastructure to properly implement the schemes and programmes formulated by the Department of Agriculture for the welfare of farmers. In this regard, an integrated agriculture system excellence centre is being constructed in the District,” said MLA B. Vedavyas Kamath.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of integrated agriculture practices upgradation centre in the City near Padil’s Alape Village in joint auspices of the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Agriculture Department and NABARD on Friday January 20.

Instructing the contractors to complete the huge well-equipped building to be constructed in the heart of City at a cost of Rs. 3.88 Crore under an estimated 13,000 Sqft within the stipulated time frame, he said that the construction of this building will be of great benefit to the farmers of the District. “There are a lot of small farmers in the District and seminar halls and exhibition halls will be set up for research, laboratories, training on which types of crops should be grown on which soil, discussions on crops that will bring income to the farmers and other works,” he added.

Further he said that “State and Central Governments have formulated a number of schemes to improve the economic condition of the farmers, mainly the Prime Minister is encouraging the farmers through the Krishi Samman Yojana by directly crediting Rs. 6,000 to the farmers’ accounts. Accordingly the State Government is giving a total of Rs. 10,000 to the farmers by adding Rs. 4,000 along with Rs. 6,000.”

“Earlier there was no system of releasing funds directly from the government to the accounts of farmers and the Krishi Samman Yojana has been implemented without leaving any loopholes in the implementation of the scheme,” he added.

Mangaluru Urban Development Authority Chairman Ravishankar Mijaru, MCC Member Sandip Garodi, Agriculture Department Joint Director Seetha M.C., Karnataka Housing Board Executive Engineer Mangala and others were present on the dais.

Agriculture Department Deputy Director Bharathamma G. U. welcomed. Mangaluru Taluk Assistant Director Veena K. R. hosted the programme. Sasikala rendered prayers.
