Mangaluru: The State Government is implementing several schemes to provide more energy and opportunities to the workers. The workers should take advantage of these schemes and lead a better life, said MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
He was speaking after distributing 576 kits to building and other construction workers by the Labour Department and the State Building and other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board at the Women’s ITI College Auditorium near Sharbatkatte in the City on Sunday March 12. “For the benefit of building and other construction workers, the State Government has given a Rs 3,000 kit containing 43 items to the beneficiaries working as masons, plumbers, electrical workers to facilitate their work and a book kit has been distributed to facilitate the education of children of class V and VIII workers,” he noted.
He urged all construction workers to get beneficiary cards and avail 19 types of benefits provided by the Labour Welfare Board, as well as apply under the Educational Assistance Scheme and get financial assistance from LKG to postgraduate education.
The MLA distributed 576 kits to plumbers, masons, electrical beneficiaries and students of classes V and VIII.
Deputy Mayor Poornima, Corporators Premananda Shetty, Shakeela Kava, Bhaskar Moolya, Veena Mangala, Women’s ITI Principal Shivakumar, Labour Officers Wilma and Kaveri were present on the dais.
