Bengaluru: BPL Card has been changed as APL due to some technical problem, and hence I would like to draw the attention of State Government, said MLA Vedavyas Kamath at Assembly.
Further, elaborating the problem, MLA said that this has affected the benefeciaries of Sandhya Suraksha Yojana, and specially-abled people. The minimum limit for the BPL card holders’ income be increased from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 32,000 per year, he urged.
MLA also informed that he has written a letter to the Revenue Minister.
Minister J. C. Madhuswamy replying to Vedavyas Kamath said that some of the ration cards have income limit of Rs. 1.2 Lakh and some have Rs. 32,000. Government is evaluating this. These apart, some ration cards come under Navodaya Scheme, he added.
Continuing, the Minister said despite this in DK District alone 1,639 cards are invalid due to the death of the respective person. While 210 are above limit, 752 cards have some income differences. Therefore, the Government has cancelled these ration cards. It is not related to the APL or BPL card issue, he clarified.
Meanwhile Speaker Kageri noted that Vedavyas Kamath has alleged that the officials have cancelled ration card without any spot inspection.
