Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School celebrated World Environment Day on 10 June 2023 at the school auditorium. The programme was hosted by grade XII students, and began with a prayer service, communing with the creator of the universe. Seona accorded a warm welcome to the chief guest, teacher Sylvia Fernandes and presented a flower sapling. Then the students welcomed the audience tapping into the rhythm of nature. The mystery of our nature and environment was elucidated by Neil and Sakshi through the significance of the day. Further, the disadvantages of using plastic on marine life were highlighted through a skit.
The chief guest, teacher Sylvia Fernandes in her speech, appreciated the students of grade XII and their mentors for demonstrating thought-provoking messages on saving the environment. She advised the students to follow the three R’s to save the environment – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. In conclusion, she instructed the students to use water judiciously and to save electricity.
The programme ended with a theme dance illuminating the significance of Mother Earth, followed by a vote of thanks by Prasthuthi. The event was compared by Ashwini and Thaneesha.
