Mount Carmel Central School holds PTA General Body Meeting

Mangaluru:Alone we can do little, together we can do muchrightly said, Helen Keller. Believing in this adage, Mount Carmel Central School, held its PTA General Body Meeting on Saturday 1 July in the School auditorium. There was an august gathering of parents which paved a path to a long-lasting relationship between the institution and its stakeholders.

The mind and soul of the audience were spiritually ignited through a prayer song led by the school choir, followed by a captivating welcome dance by the students. Principal Sr Melissa accorded a heartfelt welcome to the parents, and a special welcome to Sr Asha Prima A.C, the new joint secretary of the school and the chairperson of PTA. She then introduced and gave a befitting welcome to the chief guest and keynote speaker Dr Supriya Hedge Aroor, Psychiatrist and Professor, Head of Department of Psychiatry, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore and her associate counsellor Farheen Naaz.

Sr Melissa gave a genial welcome to PTA Vice President Jennifer Fernandes, PTEC members and all the parents and staff. She urged the parents in her message to be in communication with their children. She appreciated and applauded the work of the PTEC during the past year.

The student achievers of grade X and XII Board Exam 2023 were graciously felicitated. The PTA secretary teacher Leena Mary Jose read out the PTEC report for the academic year 2022-23 followed by the treasurer teacher Nisha Lolita Rego placing the audited accounts of the PTA to the gathering. The School Joint Secretary Sr Asha Prima in her message appreciated the staff and the parents and asked for their continual cooperation.

The chief guest of the day, Dr Supriya Hegde Aroor delivered the keynote address on Positive Parenting. She also awakened the parents on the deadly perils of addiction. She further acquainted them to set a few ground rules for their wards, while her associate Farheen Naaz gave a few tips on concentration and urged the parents to provide a conducive environment for their wards.

The Election to the new executive committee was conducted by the Administrator Sr Carissima. Space for doubts and queries was allotted which was used fruitfully by a few parents. PTA Vice President Jennifer Fernandes rendered a heartfelt note of gratitude. The programme was anchored by teacher Ananya Sneha. The meeting ended on a pleasant and gratifying note.
