Mount Carmel Central School students triumph in various events

Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School, witnessed an impressive display of excellence from its talented students across various disciplines. The school’s commitment to nurturing sportsmanship and encouraging participation in extracurricular activities has yielded remarkable results.

In the National Level Silver Zone Olympiad, several students won medals with certificates and prizes.

Many students are qualified in the State Level Spell Bee Competition and are selected for the National level.

The talented chess players of the school have excelled in various chess competitions. Ahan Panicker of grade III E participated in the Cademic Chess Carnival 2023 organized by Cademic Chess Center in Trivandrum and secured 2nd place in the Rapid event and 3rd place in the Classical event in the U-8 category. His brother, Anshul Panicker of grade VIII A also showcased his chess skills by securing 2nd Place in the Rapid event in the U-13 Boys category.

Another impressive chess achievement was made by Anshul Panicker in the 16th Sri Narayana Guru Trophy All India Fide Rated Rapid Chess Tournament 2023 held on 3-4 June at TMA Pai Hall, Manipal. Anshul secured 2nd place in the U-14 boys category. Arthur Arun Alex of grade III E participated in the Summer Grand Chess Camp organized by Derick’s Chess School on 27 May 2023 and secured 3rd place.

In the 3rd Inter District Rapid Chess Tournament organized by the Dakshina Kannada Chess Association in Mangaluru on 18 June 2023, several students from Mount Carmel showcased their chess prowess. Ahan Panicker of Grade III E secured the 1st place in the U-9 category, Chaandri Madhukiran of Grade I C won the 5th place in the U-7 category, Aarav Ajith of Grade II D secured the 1st place in U-7 Boys category, Ridhvi Madhukiran of grade IV E secured the 3rd place in U-9 category.

Hanish H. Devadiga of grade VII E demonstrated his skills at the All India Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Union – Karnataka Championship held on 25 June 2023 at the University of Mysore. He secured 1st place, reflecting his dedication and talent in martial arts.

Yashas C. K. of grade VII A, displayed remarkable badminton skills in the Shuttle Badminton Tournament held at Arhath Sports Academy, Moodubidre on 8th July 2023 and secured the runner-up position in the U-13 Boys category.

In the Gadag Open National Level Karate Championship competition, held under the aegis of School of Karate-Do, Art of Self-Defence, Mangaluru, Ashel Nia D’Souza of grade VI B bagged 3rd place in Kata, Sharvin Prinson D’Souza of grade IV A won the 3rd place in Kata and Kumite, Lavith Kumar of grade III C secured the 1st place in Kumite and 3rd place in Kata and Drey Aiden Fernandez of grade III E won the 3rd place in Kata and Kumite.

In the Karnataka Shito Ryn Karate Do Championship organized by All India Shito-Ryo Karate Do and held on 25 June 2023 at Mysore, Aaron Calvin DSouza of VIII E secured the 2nd place in Kumite in the U-14 category.

Mahathi H Pavanaskar, a student of grade XI PCMB, showcased her exceptional dancing skills in the ‘AVINYA’ National Level Dance Competition organized by the Bharatiya Nritya Kala Parishadh in Mysore on 25 June 2023. Mahathi secured 1st place in both, the Group and Individual Senior Category. She also secured 1st Place in the National Level Bharatanatyam Competition conducted by Gopinathdas Nyasa of Bengaluru in the open category, held on 17 June 2023.

Sthuthishree B.R. of grade X D participated in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Quiz – JIGYASA organized by Indian Oil Company and secured 3rd place in the Regional Round held at Chennai, showcasing knowledge and intelligence.

In the Green Quiz organised by Centre for Integrated Learning in association with Lions & Leo Club, Mangalore and held on July 1, Vidyuth Ajith Soman and Shanthanu Vaibhav Aneesh, both of grade X secured the 3rd place.

Pranvi Akshay of Nursery A bagged 1st place in the Father’s Day Special Reels Contest organised by Voice of Aradhana, Agari Enterprises. She also won the 3rd prize in the Photo contest.

In the Padukone Table Tennis Tournament organised by Vidyadayinee Sports Academy on July 9, our U-17 girls team with Trisha of IX B, Rhea Hurtis of IV C, Prishma Suvarna of IX C and Deeksha of X A bagged the 1st Place and our U-14 girls team with Rhea Hurtis of IV C, Trisha of IX B, Riann Jen DSilva of VI C and Aadya of V D won the 1st place.

In the National Level Karate Championship held at Udupi on July 15, Nethan Prathik of IX A won a Silver and a Bronze medal in two individual events in the Brown Belt Category and Jokitha S of VII A bagged a Silver medal in Kumite.

These achievements reflect the dedication, talent, and hard work of the students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangalore and the support and encouragement of their parents as well. The school’s focus on sports and extracurricular activities has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in fostering a spirit of competitiveness and excellence among its students.
