Mangaluru: Scouts and Guides of Mount Carmel Central School held a virtual programme on “Our Earth” on 24 June 2023 at 5 p.m. on the occasion of World Environment Day, as per the guidance given by Bharath Scouts and Guides organization. School Guide Captain, Aparna Phadte welcomed the participants for the virtual programme. She extended a special welcome to P.G.R Sindhia, State Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, Prabhakar Bhat, State Organising Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, Bharath Raj, ASOC, Bharath Scouts and Guides Dakshina Kannada district, Jayavanthi Soans, District Joint Secretary and District Commissioner of Guides and Scouts Master Kini, President of Mangalore City North.
The programme began with lighting the lamp followed by a short prayer service. Scouts and Guides then performed a dance giving awareness about “Go green, Save Water”. They also gave the significance of the day followed by a song depicting the importance of saving nature. Then the officials of Scouts and Guides interacted with the Scouts and Guides, appreciated their performance and enlightened them about the need to save nature and conserve natural resources. Guide Adithi Kottari rendered the vote of thanks and Scout Kevin Kushalappa compeered the programme.
