Kodagu: The much-awaited Inter House Cross Country Competition at Sainik School Kodagu was conducted with full fervour on Dec 10, 22. This mega event, which tests the limits of physical fortitude, indomitable spirit and willpower in cadets, was flagged off by Col G Kannan, Principal, Sainik School Kodagu at  6 a m. 

The competition was conducted in five categories namely Group A to F for class XI and XII, class X & IX , class VII & VIII, class VI (Boys) and class VII & VIII (girls), Class VI (Girls) cadets, in which the cadets ran a course of 9 km, 7 km, 5 km and 4 km respectively across varying terrains of Kudige-Kudumagaluru villages. A total of 600 cadets participated in the run. 

Cadet Darshan MP from Group A, Cadet Prajwal from Group B, Cadet Sohamfrom Group C, Cadet Aryan Mavarkarfrom group D, Cdt Manya from group E, Cdt  Deepti Devi from group F, CdtAnvi from group G secured the first positions. Cadet Darshan MP from Subroto House Senior was adjudged the Best Cross Country Runner for the year 2022-23. Overall, Subroto House was declared the champion of the Competition. 

The Chief Guest Lt Col Indraneel Ghosh and Mrs Swati Ghosh presented the coveted Inter House Cross Country Competition Trophy for the year 2022-23 to Subroto House and individual prizes to the proud winners.  In his address Col G Kannan, the Principal congratulated the winning House and praised the mettle and physical endurance displayed by all participating cadets. In his address to the cadets, he emphasised that it is the “Never Give Up” attitude that will bring greater victory, especially when a runner is feeling exhausted and his inner consciousness is constantly saying that it’s impossible. Further, he congratulated the winners for their display of house spirit. He added that a young cadet of class VI really transforms into a cadet of Sainik School only when he successfully completes the cross country. He also reiterated the importance of participation and emphasized the need for team spirit to win championships. 

On the occasion Mrs Swati Ghosh, Lt Col Ajit Singh, Administrative Officer, Sqn Ldr  Manpreet Singh, Vice Principal, Ms Sujatha, School Medical Officer, members of academic and administrative staff, NCC and PI staff were present.
