St Agnes PU College holds PTA Annual General Meeting

Mangaluru: PTA Annual General Meeting of St Agnes PU College was held on 3 August 2023 at 3.15 pm in the Auditorium. The meeting enabled parents and teachers to communicate clearly and this can have a positive influence on the performance of the students and enable them to work effectively.

The programme began with the screening of a prayer song to invoke the blessings of God. Chrystle Almeida welcomed the audience and introduced the chief guest Dr Kavyashree K.B, HOD and Assistant Professor, Dept. of Clinical Psychology, St Agnes Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research, Mangalore.

he toppers Samruddhi D, Renisha Viola Dsouza and Samhita Prabhu from the Science, Commerce and Arts streams respectively were honoured along with their parents. Subject lecturers of the Toppers were also felicitated on the occasion.

The chief guest Dr Kavyashree K.B addressed the audience and spoke on the need to bridge the chasm that has become a hallmark of parent-child relationships in the contemporary world due to various reasons, use of mobile phones, work pressure, stress etc, being a few of them. “We have to raise ourselves before we raise our child”, said the chief guest. She outlined a few effective strategies that if implemented can bring about transformation in the quality of this relationship.

Inspector Gopalkrishna Bhat, Mangalore East Police Station addressed the parents on the occasion and urged the parents and teachers to be collaborators working towards the welfare of their children. He cautioned the parents about the dangers arising from substance abuse, mobile phones and underage driving and counselled them to be vigilant.

Dr P V Shobha compered the programme, Joslyn Lobo, PTA Member proposed the vote of thanks. The Principal Sr Norine Dsouza read out the PTA report for the year 2022-23 and informed the parents about the upcoming exams and sought the cooperation of the parents for the growth and welfare of their ward.

Venitia Rasquinha read the statement of accounts for the year 2022-23 and Mathew, Secretary, PTA read the minutes of the meeting for the year 2022-23. Dr Sr Maria Roopa A.C, Chairperson, St Agnes Institutions, Sr Janet Sequeira, Vice Principal, Asha Sanjivana PTA Vice-President, Avinash Krishnakumar, PTA Joint Secretary and the faculty graced the occasion.
