Republic Day: Entries invited for NK’s Speech Salad 2023

Mangaluru: News Karnataka is organising a video open mic contest ‘Speech Salad 2023’. The theme is ‘Republic Day’ and the topic for the event is ‘What does Republic Day mean to me?’.

The videos will be hosted between January 22 to 26, 2023 on News Karnataka’s YouTube and as well as on the home pages of NewsKarnataka.com and NewsKannada.com. Candidates must note that the videos must be sent after registration at https://forms.gle/XiFwSkpvmyb9XvUX6. Entries will be considered on a first come first basis after sorting language-wise.

The prizes will be sponsored by Max Rasquinha, DTM, USA/Mangaluru. The contest’s winners will receive a cash reward of Rs. 10,000, runners-up will receive Rs. 5,000, and there will be five consolation awards of Rs. 1000 each.

A maximum of 20 videos will be featured, unless there are exceptional entries, that the jury feels must be featured.

The winners will get a mail at the end of the competition. Violation of any rules of the contest will invite disqualification.

Rules for the competitions

Indian citizens aged 15 or above living anywhere in the world are eligible for participating in the contest. Only one video entry per individual is allowed.

The video must be recorded between January 1 to 20, 2023.

Candidates must note that the video shared must be original and the duration of it should be between a minimum of 3 min and a maximum of 4 minutes.

The video must only feature the person speaking in landscape 16:9 ratio, preferably close up and with hands visible. There should be clarity of voice and candidates must use a mic system and avoid ambient sounds. Recordings may be made in a studio, on a mobile device, or by any other mode. Competitors can also make use of NewsKarnataka’s studios at a subsidised rate.

English, Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, and Hindi are all acceptable languages for speech. It may be serious, humorous, or a hybrid. Politics, sexuality, and religion must be avoided, though.

Entries that don’t adhere to the rules for eligibility, time, videography, and content will be disqualified.

The jury will consist of eminent persons. The decision of Spearhead Media will be final for the contest. Once the videos are submitted they will become the property of Spearhead Media Pvt. Ltd.
