Bangalore: In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, a group of college students in the city has successfully raised funds through an integrity stall to distribute food, clothes, and blankets to the homeless in the city. The CSA student volunteers of Kristu Jayanti College were able to render support to more than 100 homeless families and individuals in the city through the drive. Sixty-year-old Muthamma who works in construction sites near Thannisandra opined that she sleeps on the floor on cardboard sheets and the clothes and blankets are highly helpful to her.
“We created an integrity stall on campus featuring books, pens, pencils, and various art and craft items crafted by our volunteers. Anyone could choose what they needed and contribute whatever they could for this noble cause. The specialty of this stall is that there were no fixed prices. Students could pay whatever they thought was fair. This honesty approach got a lot of attention and support. We are overjoyed by the tremendous support from our fellow friends, who played a crucial role in making it a grand success. Even our alumni contributed to this meaningful initiative,” opined Tara R, BCom student.
A growing number of people, primarily migrant workers, are finding refuge under flyovers, bus stations, and footpaths. Domestic help and security staff often resort to temporary shelters, facing added challenges during winter. The creative initiatives by these students of Kristu Jayanti College bring much-needed warmth to those in need, offering comfort during their difficult times.
