Fr Denis D’Sa Celebrates 60th Birthday with a Heartfelt Celebration and Generous Gesture
Fr Denis D’Sa, the parish priest of St Ann’s Church in Thottam and PRO of the Udupi diocese, celebrated his 60th birthday on September 20 with a meaningful thanksgiving Mass followed by a cake-cutting ceremony attended by parishioners.
The Mass was led by Fr D’Sa, accompanied by notable figures including Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general of Udupi diocese, and fellow priests Fr Fred Mascharenhas and Fr Clement Mascharenhas. In his homily, Fr Joseph Martis emphasized the theme that “Life is a gift from God.”
Following the Mass, parishioners organized a heartfelt birthday celebration, during which Msgr Gonsalves conveyed his warm wishes. Fr D’Sa was honored with a shawl, Mysuru Peta, and a citation by the community, along with recognition from the Sarvadharma Samanvaya Samithi.
In a touching display of generosity, Fr Denis requested that instead of traditional gifts, funds be directed toward building a new home for a needy family. The parish community rallied behind this initiative, pledging to complete the house within three months.
Dignitaries at the celebration included Fr Alvin Sequeira, editor of Uzwad, and members of the Parish Pastoral Council, among others. The program was skillfully moderated by Leslie Aroza.
Fr Denis expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the celebration, acknowledging the support of family, friends, and fellow priests who joined him on this special day.
