
Gadag: Interstate Thieves Nabbed, ₹13 Lakh Worth Valuables Recovered
Gadag: In a significant breakthrough, Gadag police arrested four interstate thieves in Hyderabad, solving seven house burglary cases in the Gadag-Betgeri twin city. The operation led to the recovery of stolen valuables worth ₹13 lakh, bringing relief to residents who were gripped by fear following a spate of thefts.
Among those apprehended in Gadag town were Venkatesan Ranganathan Vadabadi from Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvarur district and Suryashetty Vijayakumar from Chennai. The duo targeted locked houses, broke in, and fled using trains and buses, according to police reports. Law enforcement officials seized 130 grams of gold jewellery valued at ₹8 lakh, along with silver ornaments and coins worth ₹1.50 lakh from them.
Meanwhile, in the Betgeri jurisdiction, two conmen who duped people by pretending to polish gold jewellery were also arrested in Hyderabad. Identified as Deepak Ashok Gupta, a cloth merchant from Bihar’s Govindpur village, and Bipin Kumar Nandakumar Shah from Bhagalpur district, the duo had escaped after committing multiple frauds. Gold ornaments worth ₹3.75 lakh were recovered from them.
Police revealed that both individuals had prior theft records and were previously out on bail. Authorities have now urged the court to revoke their bail to prevent further offenses.
