Chamarajanagar reels from massive burglary; valuables worth lakhs stolen

In one of the largest burglary cases reported in Chamarajanagar, thieves looted 750 grams of gold, 15 kilograms of silver, and ₹5.5 lakh in cash from a house left unattended. The incident was discovered on Thursday morning when a neighbor noticed the front door open while stepping out for milk.

The burglary occurred while homeowners Srinivas Kumar and Renuka S Kumar were in Bengaluru for rituals honoring deceased family members. Their children, who reside in Bengaluru, were also away. Renuka described the scene upon her return: “The door was forced open, and all our valuables were gone. The police have initiated an investigation.”

Police Superintendent Dr. Kavita B T confirmed the break-in and theft of gold, silver, cash, a tablet, and a mobile phone, as reported in Renuka’s complaint. A forensic team visited the site to collect evidence, and authorities have registered a case at the Town police station.

Assuring swift action, Dr. Kavita stated, “We are working diligently to identify and apprehend the culprits.” This significant theft has raised concerns about home security in the district.
