Harry and Meghan miss royal Christmas gathering amid family tension
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly not invited to join the royal family for Christmas, and experts suggest it’s unsurprising given the circumstances. Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, explained to Fox News that inviting the couple would have created unnecessary tension. She mentioned that King Charles, exhausted by a challenging year, likely wanted to avoid any drama during the festive season. “Christmas is about happiness and unity, not drama,” Seward added.
Harry and Meghan, who have not joined the royals at Sandringham since 2018, are expected to spend the holidays in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet. A source noted that the ongoing dispute over Harry’s security arrangements, which were removed after stepping back from royal duties, plays a role in the family’s estrangement.
Seward also suggested that while King Charles desires to see his grandchildren, Harry’s demands, including armed security, are complicating matters. She remains hopeful that the family will reconcile in time, although she noted the busy schedules of the royals and their strained communication.
Despite past offers for Harry to stay at a royal residence during visits, the lack of security has led him to decline such invitations. The royal family, including William and Kate, will spend Christmas at Sandringham as usual, while Harry’s relationship with his father and brother continues to remain distant.
