A disturbing CCTV video from a gym in Karnataka’s Hassan has triggered outrage online after a minor argument during a workout allegedly escalated into a violent assault, leaving a young man critically injured.
The incident reportedly took place at M.J. Fitness in May 2025.
Argument during workout turns violent
According to reports, the victim, identified as Kirthan, was exercising inside the gym when he allegedly brushed shoulders with another युवक named Varun.
What initially appeared to be a minor accidental bump soon turned into a heated verbal confrontation. CCTV footage circulating on social media shows the two men arguing before the situation suddenly became physical.
Within moments, Varun allegedly struck Kirthan with a forceful blow to the head, causing him to collapse instantly to the floor.
Viral footage sparks outrage
The viral CCTV clip captures panic inside the gym as other members rushed to help the unconscious victim and attempted to control the situation.
Social media posts accompanying the video also shared alleged medical visuals showing skull fractures and serious brain injuries suffered by the victim.
According to reports circulating online, Kirthan sustained severe head trauma, including bleeding and swelling in the brain, and later slipped into a coma. He is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Police begin investigation
Police have reportedly registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the gym and recording statements from witnesses to establish the exact sequence of events and determine further legal action.
The incident has also reignited conversations online about rising aggression and violence triggered by minor disputes in public space
