Hassan: The monsoon rains have intensified across the state, bringing heavy thundershowers. According to reports, on June 5, two people were killed by lightning strikes in a single day. The tragic incident occurred near Doddamagge in Arkalgud taluk of Hassan district, where two women laborers were struck by lightning.
The victims, identified as Muthamma (70) and Puttamma (63), were sowing corn Wednesday afternoon when it began to rain. They sought shelter under a nearby tree, where they were fatally struck by lightning. MLA A. Manju visited the hospital upon learning of the tragedy, and a case has been registered at the Arkalgud police station.
