Haveri: A heartbreaking incident occurred in Haveri when 10-year-old Nivedan Basavaraj Gudgeri was swept away by a drain following heavy rains in the district. The tragedy unfolded in front of the Haveri Superintendent of Police office.
Reports indicate that the boy ventured outside in the morning to assess the water levels on the road, which had become obscured by the rainfall. Tragically, he lost his footing and fell into the drain, where he was swiftly carried away by the strong current.
Upon receiving notification of the incident, fire brigade and police personnel quickly arrived at the scene to conduct a search for the missing boy. Meanwhile, Nivedan’s mother, upon learning of her son’s fate, became unconscious and was transported to the district hospital via ambulance. The family was engulfed in despair, fervently praying for his safe return, but unfortunately, fate was not on their side.
After hours of searching, Nivedan was located and rushed to Haveri District Hospital. Despite the emergency medical efforts, he could not be revived.
The city has been experiencing heavy rains since the previous night, transforming roads into lakes and significantly disrupting daily life.
