Hubballi: After years of dealing with deteriorating roads in the Gamanagatti Industrial Estate, around 50 industrialists have threatened to block the bypass on December 23 due to severe disruptions caused by the damaged road.
Traffic has been significantly impacted as the road from Tarihal Industrial Area to Gamanagatti is completely deteriorated, making it difficult and hazardous even for small vehicles and two-wheelers. PM Veeresha Sharma, a member of the Green Tech Industrial Park Association, expressed the frustration of workers who have faced these conditions for 4-5 years.
In response to the imminent threat of a protest, Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu GRJ swiftly intervened, directing officials from KIADB, PWD, NHAI, and Police to explore temporary solutions, including providing an alternative bypass.
Girish Nalawadi, president of the North Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (NKSSIA), reported that the DC took immediate action by summoning officials to inspect the site. As a result, road work began within two days, focusing on a 100-meter stretch from the apartment cross to the HP Petrol Pump.
KIADB development officer BT Patil confirmed that pothole repairs will begin within 15 days at a cost of ₹1.1 crore for Gamanagatti, Belur, Lakamahalli, and other industrial estates. Additionally, proposals for permanent infrastructure improvements are being sent to the head office.
