While the facility to turn dry waste into torrefied charcoal is still not operational, there are plans in progress to set up a plant dedicated to producing compressed biogas (CBG) from the wet waste generated in the twin cities.

The local administration has been actively working on establishing an effective system that can handle the wet waste of the region. This effort aims to promote sustainability while addressing the challenges of waste management in the area. As the concept of biogas production grows, this move will not only help in managing waste more efficiently but will also contribute to the generation of clean energy.

Once the project is complete, the wet waste from Hubballi-Dharwad will be converted into CBG, which can be used for various purposes, such as fueling vehicles or providing clean energy. The initiative is expected to play a key role in reducing the overall waste burden in the region.

The successful implementation of this biogas plant will also support the state’s broader environmental goals, aligning with sustainable practices. The authorities are optimistic about its benefits, ensuring a greener future for the communities.
