Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh): Late Saturday night witnessed a devastating accident as a truck toppled onto a bus transporting devotees to Uttarakhand, resulting in at least 11 fatalities and 10 injuries, confirmed authorities.

The tragic incident unfolded near the Khutar police station in Shahjahanpur district, when a truck carrying ballast stones collided with a parked bus at a roadside eatery, subsequently overturning onto it. The impact claimed the lives of several devotees who were crushed under the weight of the overturned vehicle.

All passengers aboard the bus hailed from Jetha village, situated in the jurisdiction of Kamlapur police station in Sitapur district.

Ashok Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police, Shahjahanpur, recounted, “Around 11 pm, we received reports of a harrowing scene in the Khutar PS vicinity. A bus, housing pilgrims en route to Purnagiri, was stationary, with some passengers enjoying a meal at a nearby dhaba. Tragically, a truck veered out of control, flipping onto the bus… The toll stands at 11 fatalities, with 10 others sustaining injuries. All injured individuals have been swiftly transported to hospitals for urgent medical attention.”
