A deeply distressing incident has been reported from Faridabad, where an 11-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide at his home in Chhainsa village on Sunday morning.
Police said the child, identified as Ravi, is suspected to have taken the extreme step after being scolded over missing money from his mother’s wallet.
Family left in shock
Ravi was the youngest of four siblings and studied in Class VI at a nearby government school.
According to police, he had returned home after playing outside when his mother noticed that ₹50 to ₹100 was missing from her purse. Suspecting that he had taken the money, she scolded him and reportedly said she would inform his father.
His father, Sudesh, a daily wage labourer, had gone out for a morning walk at the time.
Child found on terrace
A short while later, Ravi’s absence was noticed by family members around 8 am. His mother began searching for him and found him on the terrace.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with the help of neighbours and relatives, but doctors declared him dead.
The hospital later informed police, who began legal formalities and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Police begin inquiry
Officials said inquest proceedings have been initiated under relevant provisions of law.
Police believe the child may have acted in fear or emotional distress after the scolding.
The grieving mother reportedly told police that she only intended to correct him and never imagined such a tragic outcome.
A painful reminder
The incident has left the family and local community shaken. Experts often stress that children may react strongly to fear, shame or emotional pressure, making calm communication and support especially important.
If a child appears withdrawn, distressed or fearful, timely emotional support can make a difference
